Cllr Eldridge updated the Parish Council on a few matters -:

  • Fire damaged property on Baulkins Drove is due to be completed by July after a hold up with the insurers
  • Refuse collections have been delayed on occasions due to a mixture of Bank Holidays/Breakdowns and Tulip Parade
  • Anyone wishing to apply for a Brown Bin (garden waste) can be added to the waiting list – currently 12,500 used in South Holland, routes are being optimized to incorporate an additional 3,000 (currently 1500 on the waiting list) within 3 months

77/23  TO CONSIDER REPORTS FROM OUTSIDE AGENCIES AND RESOLVE ACCORDINGLY

a) LINCS ALERT AND POLICE

To be aware of any sightings in relation to painting over the security light on the village hall

b) HIGHWAYS

Baulkins Drove to be closed between 11/7-13/7 (Anglian Water) at the ‘village end’

c) COMMUNITY SPEED WATCH

Cllr Eldridge notified that 6 people are booked on the latest CSW training 28th June and will then be fully operational and carrying out more speed checks

78/23  TO CONSIDER PARISH MATTERS AND RESOLVE ACCORDINGLY

a) CHAIRMANS REPORT

Has been agreed to write to all local hauliers requesting where possible alternative routes are used and speed is legal. Will also look to draw up a list of external hauliers who use the village as a cut through between Wisbech and Spalding and look to send the same letter to them. Clerk to draft a letter and send to all appropriate parties.

In regards to the overgrown hedge at the old vicarage, will write a 2nd letter to the owners and also contact Lincs CC/Highways as it is becoming increasingly difficult to pass now.

b) COUNCILLORS REPORT

Cllr Neale has met with the Jubilee Close committee and agreed to cut 3 pieces of communal grass on the development. Clerk will write to said committee stating that this arrangement will continue for the foreseeable future as long as the tree on 1 piece of land is maintained and cut to ensure the mower can pass easily and also a donation of £50 per annum would be made to the council for Cllr Neales time. This arrangement will be reviewed annually and can be terminated at any point.

c) CLERKS REPORT

Speak to owners of the allotments in regards to a letter received around the local authority wanting to plant community orchards/hedgerows on pieces of land. Could be a good way to separate the existing plots.

79/23  TO CONSIDER ONGOING PARISH MATTERS AND RESOLVE ACCORDINGLY

  1. Benches – Cllrs Turner and Fisher have decided to get the benches in now rather than wait for brackets to be made 
  2. Marker Stone – Clerk to chase English Heritage concerning restoration of stone at White Cross
  3. War Memorial – Clerk to investigate potential costs around a permanent structure in village
  4. Water at Hoyles Field – Spoken to an AW employee in the hope this could be pushed from the inside.
  5. Overhanging Trees onto Playgroup – Lincs CC aware – still not completed – Clerk to continue to push

b)HOYLES SPORTS FIELD

Cllr Eldridge made an observation that the water tanks in the car park (used as a security feature) make the entrance to the village appear untidy and suggested cladding/camouflaging them and then filling with plants/trees. As well as giving the clubhouse a lick of paint. Will be added to next months meeting

c)MAGAZINE

d)ALLOTMENTS

The most recent invoices not sent out yet due to laptop issues, will resolve as soon as it is fixed. Also ask about hedgerow planting

e)PLAYGROUP

Location/Design all now agreed, funding has been lined up. Next step is to await the pre school to change charity status.

The clerk presented the financial statement as at the end of May showing income of £175 (Magazine donations) and expenditure of £1403.78, resulting in a deficit of £1,228.78 and funds held of £27,368.51
